Nov 2. I Heart my Talents

I heart my talents.

Be warned, if you read any more you will think I have the biggest head in the world, but I'm trying to be extra grateful here so I'm just being honest. (Said in a sweet, friendly, I-don't-think-I'm-better-than-you-way.)
A 10_10_29 062

Pumpkin hats made by me, strangers on the street asked where we got them, and were disappointed to find out that they couldn't just go buy one. Photo taken at the Brooklyn Ikea.

When Justin boasts about his talented wife I usually add, "I'm good at expensive things that won't make any money." Which is true, but I really am thankful for my talents. They keep me entertained. They keep me busy. They keep me happy. So often we define ourselves according to what we do. As a stay at home mom, I still haven't gotten over that feeling that I don't do much. (This in no way means that I don't believe what I am doing is important, I know it is important, I love it, but I still have a desire to say I do more than stay home... because "stay home" doesn't mean much if they don't know what I am actually doing while I stay home.)

I'm thankful that I am good at the things I enjoy: music, photography, knitting, crocheting, scrapbooking, baking, cooking, writing, sewing, calligraphy, book binding, stained glass, (See expensive things... I am not good at small business and that is why I won't make any money.)

Great hats, great photo! How I wish I had learned to knit...

Yes, I find that more often than not the entertainment I prefer is the entertainment I create myself...cooking, painting, writing, playing the piano. It fulfills in a way the more mindless stuff can't.

I heart your talents, too. One of your talents is blogging. I love to read what your doing. It motivates me to try some new talents. We're sorry we didn't see more of you while you were here in NYC.

Brecken,

Maybe your physical talents are expensive (and very very cool - lol!), but you've forgotten to list all of your spiritual and emotional talents!

There's a very long list of those :) I'd say chief among them would be your wonderful talent for being a friend(which I love even more than your blogging/knitting/photograhpy etc. talents... and I really do love those). A close second whould be your incerdible wisdom and the peace that you somehow manage to share with everyone who comes in contact with you.

So I'm really (really) grateful for all of your talents too :)

Love you!
xo Tammy

Nurturer.
I think you'd do well in an etsy shop too--have you seen their prices? You could charge anything and someone would buy it because you made it so nice.(ly).
