We went for an "adventure walk." Carefully choosing our route to avoid sight of any playgrounds so Reuben would stay interested in the walking instead of beg for the slides and sprinklers.
We spent some time on the lawn down from 116th. He moved the fallen dried leaves around. He found seed pods to throw in the river. He didn't get that the river isn't as close as it looks.
We found a Magic Forest to walk through. We stopped and listened to all the birds, and watched the squirrels working, we looked up and couldn't see the sky because the trees were so full. We sat on fallen logs. We enjoyed the breeze.
I had to promise that we would come back and walk through the rest of the Magic Forest another day. I'm betting it will be pretty neat as we get closer to autumn. He is now sweetly napping, hopefully dreaming of the smell of trees and the sound of birds, I think thats a pretty important thing to dream about when you are two.

It's really important to get outside like that all through childhood. Kids love outside.
He is looking more and more grown up every day. Adorable.
Some more beautiful photos - I especially love his face in the last one. It's equal parts you and Justin, and yet 100% Reuben :)
The magic forest sounds wonderful. I can't wait to be a mother and spend my days like you do :)
