Bathtime

Today I was thinking about how the Lord said, "Brecken, I want you to do this terrifying thing. And, your husband wants you to to do it, too. I'm not make any promises other than it is going to scare you to death, so do it."
And I did it. (Well, am doing it.)

And then the Lord said, "I'm still gonna let it be scary, but I won't make all of it scary. Here are some nice people for you to be friends with, and here is a comfortable apartment, and here are some extra hugs from your son, and here is a lesson in Relief Society about generating happiness instead of trying to find it, and here is your wallet, and here is some extra money from selling your car, and here is a concerned husband, and here are some really comfortable shoes, etc."

Then I was thinking that if I didn't do the scariest thing I've ever done in my whole entire 25.99178082191 years of living, that my "comfortable" life wouldn't be as comfortable if I wasn't obedient and did the scary thing.

I didn't jump on the "Tender Mercies of the Lord" band wagon after the Bednar talk, and I don't think it gets to be my favorite talk of that conference, but I'm so glad that tender mercies exist, but mostly I think the biggest tender mercy is that the Lord has helped me recognize some of the other tender mercies.

Not very nice to keep asking him what time it is when he's obviously lost his watch.
