I'm glad my life is only LIKE a movie.

Reuben was feeding the ducks at Aunt Sandi's and Uncle Hugh's house, while mommy got to visit with them and Grandma Wanda. Reuben lost interest in the ducks, and started looking at a fish garden ornament. He was pointing in the mouth of the fish when Daddy ran to the deck to put the camera away after taking a few pictures. Reuben started to scream, which isn't unusual when daddy leaves Reub's general vicinity, so I wasn't too worried, its a "stage" after all.

Then I heard Uncle Hugh yell ,"Bees!" It was one of those moments where I thought I wasn't ready to be a mother. I saw my little boy standing there waving his arms screaming and crying with little black venom-injecting things surrounding him, he just stood there, he couldn't run because it was stepping stones, and not street. He was completely helpless. I ran towards him, but was so in shock I wasn't thinking straight, so I was glad Justin and Uncle Hugh ran towards him too. Hugh grabbed Reub and started shewing the "nasty things" away, I think he was stung. Justin was stung right above the eyebrow. Reuben was screaming and just wanted to be held, when he finally let us look, we counted, and counted.

Right Forehead, left chin, left neck, five on his left wrist and one on his right arm. It looks to be hornet or wasp, so thats better than it could be. We didn't have to get any stingers out.

It was like a scene from a movie. I'm so glad it wasn't a movie, because if it were, my baby would find out he is allergic to stings and would stop breathing and die on the way to the hospital... I am so glad my life is not a movie! He cried for a half hour, then with a little Reasor homemade icecream, cortisone cream, and meat tenderizer, he was back to our happy little Reuben. He had red swollen patches everywhere, but it didn't seem to bother him.

We will keep watch for infection. But I'm glad it wasn't worse than it was, because it was one of the scariest moments I've ever experienced.

Woah. Were the bees in the fish or what? I've never even been stung by a bee at all.

Oh, poor kid. That sucks. I hate bees-they're evil. Ants are evil too, but at least they don't sting. Anyway, I'm so glad he's not allergic. That would have been horrible. I hope he heals quickly.
