Brigham City Temple Open House

Friday night, we went up to Syracuse to watch our friend's children while they went on a date, and then we spent the night. The next morning we drove up to Brigham City. We drove and drove, and when we got into the town, it was hard to miss the extremely white beautiful temple.

During an open house, everyone is invited to go inside the temple, including non-members and children.

We parked and took the shuttle bus up, watched the video introducing the temple. Reuben reported that the movie made him smile. Simeon was was very excited every time there was a photo of the Nauvoo temple. Then it was time to walk through the temple. The boys were reverent, and we had a nice time walking through the new beautiful temple, admiring the tile from Iraq, dark brown, light brown and red, and wood carvings from Pakistan. Some of the patterns are the same as from the tabernacle across the street, and some I have seen in the Salt Lake Temple.

We could not take pictures inside the temple, but it has a lovely color scheme inside, and they didn't cover up the peach blossom windows, which were beautiful. It was a wonderful experience to take the boys, to talk about what our temple marriage means for our family as I hoisted Reuben up to see in the mirrors. We then went across the street to see the tabernacle, where the boys were not reverent.

On the way home we stopped at Maddox, and had a very delicious meal. It's a good thing I don't have occasion to go up there very often.
