I'm not 29

a 2011_09_07 047

It was not so much that I was turning thirty that was the problem. I've decided that it was not being in my twenties that was the problem. Thank you, for your responses to my plea for praise.

So, to justify leaving my twenties behind I made some mental lists of what I had accomplished in my twenties. (Because, my expectations of where I would be by thirty were gravely mistaken.)

  • I called 10 different places home. Three states (one of them twice).8 Wards/branches
  • I learned lots of skills, some of them useful. Stained Glass, Bookbinding, Calligraphy, Crochet, Knitting, Scrapbooking, Blogging, Quilting, Editing, Raising Babies.
  • I got married.
  • I graduated with a BA in English, Minor in Music
  • I started a job related to my degree
  • I quit that, got training to do what I wanted to do and started doing that
  • I had two babies, one miscarriage
  • I learned how to live in New York City, and did lots of really cool things there with my family.
  • I took piano lessons and got to the point where I could say confidently that I played the piano
  • Supported my husband through his MFA
  • My oldest child had three days of kindergarten
  • I was Relief Society Compassionate Service Leader, RS Room Decorator, RS President,  RS Music Leader, Ward Chorister, Primary Pianist, Ward Choir Leader, RS Teacher, Nursery Leader, Primary Music Leader, Primary 2nd Councilor with two different presidents, Family Sunday School Co-teacher with Justin, Young Woman 1st Councilor, RS Board Member, Primary Co-Music Leader.
And there is more I'm sure. But, it made me feel a little better about not being in my twenties anymore. Maybe I will just do more in my thirties so that I don't have to panic for a couple weeks before I leave my next decade behind.

IT looks to me like you were a very busy lady! Good for you! Give yourself a pat on the back.

Oh Brecken, you forgot to add 'made fabulous lifelong friends' to your list! Because I think that that's MY favourite thing that you did in the past decade. lol! :)

I can very (very) much relate the the anxiety of the past few weeks. Am going through it right now in fact :) I wish my list was as full as yours! But at least we've all got the next decade, and then the one after that, and honestly, we've got eternities - which will hopefully be enough time for us all to finally get the hang of things, right?!

Congratulations on a wonderful 10 years. Can't wait to be a part of your next ten years :) You're just one of the most beautiful and wonderful people that I know, and I'm so grateful to call myself your friend. The ONLY thing I'd change about you, is your address :) lol!

xoxo Tammy
