Slip and Slide

Our neighbor's got a slip and slide, and invited us out to play with them.

When you're a kid, you don't realize that there is this tiny window in your life where you are willing to run, then throw yourself to the ground, and slide on wet plastic until you either slip off onto the grass and get dried cut grass stuck to you everywhere, or make it to the end and get dried cut grass all over your feet when you get up.

You don't realize, when you are a kid, that it's not actually that fun. Boy, am I glad of that.

The boys had a blast. Simeon wouldn't go on it until they sprinkler part was off, then he just walked and slipped when he got to a puddle. Reuben on the other hand was a pro.

I felt a little sad inside that I no longer have a desire to slip and slide, or jump on a trampoline, or swing, or go around the world on a tire swing. But, even as a child those desires were never very strong, so I guess I should be too surprised.
