Macy's Thanksgiving Day

Turn the parade on for a few minutes and think of us. We will not be there, we will be making pie. Last night we went to the the inflation celebration and I about died (and it is supposedly less crowded than the parade.) Fence to fence people slowly oozing down the street. We made it to, and down 77th between Columbus and CPW and took the first exit out of the madness.

We saw Macy's Stars, those little Macy's guys, Sponge Bob, Shrek, Ronald McDonald, Abby Cadabby, Energizer Bunny, Kermit the Frog, Spider Man, and more Macy's Stars. Daddy carried Reuben who slept for the first half our of the block. I pushed Simeon who cried for the whole thing.

But, while I hated the crowd and the pushing, the touching of strangers, and the getting separated from Justin--there was an undeniable sense of community. We were all stuck in that mass of humanity, working together towards the same goal, with bursts of frustration, but a majority of forgiveness and understanding.

The holidays are here, and working its magic on this city. Happy Thanksgiving.
