Wedding In New York

You've probably seen a whole slew of movies about weddings in New York. Yesterday we got to experience one for real. Marta and Connor, two of Justin's classmates, were married yesterday, and we were lucky enough to get to go.

We arrived at the church a little early, not sure how long it would take me to walk from 66th to 71st while having contractions, and while we were not the first there, we beat the flowers. I'm glad that LDS weddings are different, my wedding day was stressful enough, I can't imagine the extra stresses that would be added if I had known that my flowers didn't arrive until after most of my guests had. The ceremony was lovely, but I do have to admit that I am glad I am not Catholic because all the standing up and sitting down would get to me (maybe not if I wasn't so pregnant.)

Then it was off to central park for the reception at the Boathouse. We've often walked by the Boathouse and wished we could afford to splurge there, and now we will walk by and wish we could eat there again.

After appetizers on the patio, we were seated. The tables were named after movies, and we were assigned to "Knocked Up." There was a great band, 4 course meal, we left before the cake was cut--had to pick up Reuben from our friends and make it home before I was too exhausted.

Getting back home from the east side is miserable on Sunday nights. We waited for the M4 for 25 minutes, and finally gave up. We took the M2 to 96th, took the crosstown, and was lucky enough to get to Broadway right before a 104 did. We weren't all home until 11:45 at which time we were all immediately asleep.
We wish Marta and Connor the best, and were happy to get to see their special day. Its nice to have another married couple join the ranks of film students, and they may be the luckiest because they don't have the significant other wishing they really truly knew what a filmmaker's schedule was before vowing to support them through it.

I love your dress!
Mmm, good food. But yes, there are some definite perks to LDS weddings.

We went to a reception at the boathouse last weekend and it was so fun. Isn't it a beautiful setting?

What a cute idea for naming the tables!

Brecken, you're looking gorgeous! How fitting that you were assigned to the Knocked Up table. Coincidence?

Really enjoyed your post Brecken! Enjoyed seeing photos of you and Justin. 'Knocked Up' made me laugh! Was everyone pregnant on your table?
Glad you had a good time and a nice meal! :)
(Wish we could have taxied you home though!)
