PBS

I have a question that has been plaguing me for weeks. Something happened, and PBS is one of my favorite channels. I get sucked into Artist Den (Alanis Morissette, Igrid Michaelson, Ani Difranco) They show good classic movies, instead of the classic movies you don't want to watch. (and we'll just ignore the fact that if the tv is on during the daytime it is on PBS, but that is Reuben not me.) This is strange to me because PBS has always been not programed for me. Nothing against Lawrence Welk, or Nova, but I have spent years being not interested. Until now. I will be clicking through the channels, and see something that makes me stop and watch, and then I realize it is PBS.

So the question is: Is it me, did I get old, have my interests changed that much? Is it New York's PBS (thirteen WNET, or WLIW 21)? Or has PBS all over become more aware of the interests of a larger population?

I still won't stop for Lawrence or Nova, so I'm thinking its not entirely me.

GASP! How dare you diss Lawrence Welk and his beautiful bubble machine! I'm going to have to tune into PBS. Do they still air Sesame Street?

I think it might be you Brecken! But only because I think it might be me too! I've been listening to ABC news radio lately. That won't mean much to you, but ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) radio is the station that puts a microphone down in parlament house, and you can just listen to their proceedings(seriously - Australia has the most raucous parliment ever! They swear at each other, yell, and call each other the most awful names if they think the other person is being 'stupid'). I listen to the science show in the evenings (last night, I learnt all about these butterflies that live inside ant colonies and imitate the sound of the queen ant, so all the other ants bring it food and look after it... I also learnt about Hirise, the camera that's been photographing Mars with pixels that cover 12 inches each!). In the mid-morning, if I'm ever in the car, I listen to the book review interviews...
Totally never thought I was that person.... But I really LIKE knowing what's going on in my country.... Not quite sure when it happened.....
