Makin' Eggs

Reuben limped out of the living room, this usually means a potty break. A few minutes passed, and then I heard some clanking in the kitchen. I went to check on him, like a good mother.

The fridge door was open. Reuben was standing on the cooler, stirring something in a skillet on the stove. I noticed the box of eggs on the counter next to him. I got closer and saw two cracked eggs (no shells) in the pan. I had to search for the shells which were in the empty yogurt container on the counter. He simply said, "I'm makin' eggs."

I looked for pieces of shell in the pan, I only found one tiny little piece. I turned on the burner, and started scrambling. He patiently watched me. Got down from the cooler, pushed it over to the other counter, got a plate, got down from the cooler, pushed it with the plate on top back so he could have the plate ready when the eggs were.

He had finished a whole bowl of cereal an hour earlier, and now those two eggs have been consumed. I'm glad he didn't turn on the burner himself. And I'm glad he only cracked two eggs. I'm still amazed he could do it that well, and all with a limp.

So he must be having growing pains?! It's good he's learning to be independent and still knows boundaries like the hot stove.

That's awesome! I've been trying to teach Adalyn how to open the fridge, pull out a yogurt, open it herselft, get a clean spoon, and wash off her face when she's done. The goal is to let her get breakfast while I sleep in a little longer! But, yogurt is a very different story than cooking his own eggs!
