Surprise Ultrasound

My ringer was off on my phone (without my knowing) yesterday, so when I checked my phone this morning I saw several messages... one from the hospital informing me that I had an appointment "tomorrow" (meaning today) at 10:15. Reuben had preschool so I tried to make arrangements because I wouldn't be able to pick him up, but I failed miserably because I thought they were just going to draw more blood for tests, but it turned out that it was for an ultrasound. It took much longer than I thought it was going to (Sorry Emily!) But I HEARD the heart beat, and saw the little thing jumping around. The ultrasound tech said, "this baby is so active" and then I admitted that I hadn't come prepared with real food but found a mint in my purse and ate that a few minutes ago, so the baby had just had a jolt of sugar.

The bigger of the two ultrasound pictures is a close up of the face. The black dot is the eye, and the bright white is the nose, lips, and chin. The other two are of the whole blob the second. Its leg's are on the left, and head on the right. We will call it "blob the second" for 8 more weeks.

Justin was sad we didn't know what the appointment was, because he missed it all.

I was a little frazzled and didn't dazzle my piano teacher, which I know isn't a big deal, but I really was better prepared than I was able to play today. Oh, the sacrifices a mother makes.
