Pray for Us!

Our application was approved to enter into the housing lottery! That means that we have the chance to maybe, possibly, hopefully live in a two bedroom by the end of next week. It's a complicated process, and if you aren't interested in it, just pray that we will get the best option for the rest of our time in New York.

For those of you who are interested, this is my understanding of the housing lottery. On Monday we will go to the housing office, get a lottery number, look at some floor plans, and be able to choose three apartments we would like to see. We will then go see those three apartments.

On Tuesday, at noon, Reuben and I (because Justin has class) will go back to the housing office and wait for our number to be called. When they call our number I will list, in order of preference, the three apartments we would like. If one of those apartments is open (meaning no one with a better lottery number got it) we will be given the apartment. If none of those apartments are open we stay in our one bedroom apartment.

If we are given a new apartment we have to immediately have our apartment clean and show-able to other lottery contestants, and move in that week.

We have a few factors that are deal breakers. It needs to have two bedrooms, it needs to have laundry in the building, it needs to have an intercom or doorman, it needs to have a room big enough for MusikGarten, it needs to have a kitchen (not just a kitchenette), it needs to only be 300 dollars more expensive than our current rent. While it would be nice to have a room for Reuben, so life doesn't have to stop when he needs to sleep, I would go insane if New York got any harder to live in. We have to make a quick decision, and all of our stars have to be aligned. And we'll cross the move in a week in New York City bridge if we get there.

I keep asking Justin if he thinks we've been righteous enough to deserve this big of a blessing... he says "I hope so."

Wow, that's so exciting! I really hope you guys get something you can be happy with. If you need us to watch Reuben during moving-time or whenever would be expedient to have him out of the way, just give us a call. Good luck! Can't wait to hear the results.
