Name This Bug

This is the type of bug that crawls in and out of the cracks in the floor, the cupboards, tiles, etc. Justin found one crawling on the wall once. Are you getting that tingely-something-is-crawling-on-me feeling?

Do you know what it is? You can click on the picture to make it bigger (and increase that feeling). This is actually a pretty big one, they are usually under 1/2 inch long. It has a very shiny white belly if that helps.

We'll give this to the exterminator, try to put all of our dishes and cooking stuff in cupboards, and find a place for Reuben and I to go for 4 hours. If I didn't have to do the bus to alone I would go to a museum, but I can't quite juggle Reuben and the stroller and a crowded bus.

I just saw one of these in our apartment for the first time last night and I thought, "That looks exactly like the bug Brecken described!" I have no idea what kind of bug it is, but it was an ugly little sucker and I don't want to see any more!!!

It's a silverfish. I got this off of wikipedia: A 1:1-ratio dispersion of borax or boric acid and sugar is a reliable bait to kill silverfish (relatively non-toxic to non-insects). They also said to trap them in smooth glass jars because they can't climb smooth surfaces. Good luck. They mostly eat bookbinding glue and stuff like that.

I second the silverfish...

They come from everywhere, and eat books/paper/etc.

Bug bombs help, but they are REALLY hard to get rid of. We had them in California every once in a while.

Watch out for your scrapbooks.

Get better soon!
