Long Night

Saturday nights outside of our windows and door are not pleasant. Last night was especially unpleasant.

I was woken up at 3:30 am by some yelling. Because our windows face the "courtyard" everything that happens out there sounds like it is happening in our living room/bedroom. The male was using horrible language and was very obviously drunk, the woman was yelling "I'm so sick of you." This went on for a while, when we heard the lobby door open and slam shut. This made my heart jump, because our apartment door goes straight out to the lobby so anything that happens in the lobby sounds like it is happening in our hallway next to the living room/bedroom. Then I heard what kept me up the rest of the night.

Thunk.
Thunk.
Thunk/shatter.

The man had thrown three things at the lobby door and broke the glass with that last. He then ran. Now, I know this about mean drunks... they don't really care who they hurt, so my over active imagination started seeing things that made me want to get Reuben and huddle in the corner away from the windows and door. Which I did, but I turned off the night light in Reuben's room, and tried to shut the gate in our living room/bedroom window. Then I was even more startled to hear our buzzer go off! The button to ring our buzzer is not on the top row, like you would think our button would be, it is in the middle in no apparent order, so randomly picking it could happen, but its still pretty weird that they picked our buzzer cause there are probably only 4 apartments in the whole building that could have heard so much of the argument.

Justin, fell back asleep. (Sweet Justin, I love him for not yelling and throwing things at me, but I wish he wasn't such a narkaleptic.) I watched a documentary about Frank Loesser who wrote the words to Heart and Soul, and Inchworm, the words and music for Guys and Dolls, How to Succeed in Business, and Baby, its Cold Outside.

I know moving is the last thing Justin wants to do, but I would like to see what else is available to us (cause I think there would be less noise in a upper floor cause everyone in the whole building doesn't have to go through your living room/bedroom, only the other 8 apartments on your floor.)

Dear Santa,
I want a house, with a yard, and a fence, and bullet proof and sound proof windows and doors, and a deep double sink in the kitchen with lots of counter space and a dishwasher, and a big tub (no jets are required), and clothes washer, and a place to hang clothes to dry (or a drier), and a bedroom for me and Justin with a really big closet, or two kind of big closets, and a living room, and an office/craft room, and maybe two bedrooms. Could you please have it ready in 2 years and 11 months? I will be nicer cause I really, really want it.
Thank you,
Brecken
P.S. Say "Hi" to Mrs. Claus for me.

Sounds like a reasonable request to me. That sounds scary. I saw some guys bashing in a car's windshield with a baseball bat once when I lived in California and was doing my laundry at about 1 AM, but at least it didn't feel like it was in my living room!

How scary! Sounds like when I lived in downtown Minneapolis (first floor) and woke up at 11:30 to someone assaulting a woman in the parking lot. I hope Santa grants your request!
