And just like that, Simeon is three!
Sunday morning we woke up to some very excited brothers. We had donuts for breakfast opened some presents (a super hero cape, and a cookie monster doll--a blue present from Reuben.) Then it was off to stake conference. When it was over we had a crying birthday boy because there was no nursery. We had to take him over to the nursery room so he could see none of his friends were there.
We had a lovely afternoon. And Jordan and Courtlin came for dinner and cake bites (blue of course.)
The next day we waited for the UPS man to deliver his last present, and went to pick out a bike helmet. Then we drove up Mill Creek looking for places to stop and take photos. We had just left the neighborhood part and Simeon said, "You are driving me crazy." He said it a couple more times, usually associated with a bend in the road, and then he fell asleep. It was cloudy with short bursts of rain, so I parked and waited for him to wake up.
Then for dinner we went to Chick-Fil-a so Simeon could play in the "play play." It was a lovely evening, and he felt special.
It's hard to believe he is three, but he is so smart and funny and full of personality that it is also easy to believe he is three.
His favorite joke to tell is: "Once upon a time, when I was a little girl." His favorite color is blue. He adores Reuben. He is a boy of many faces, and uses his expressions well. All I had to do to potty train him was to tell him that when he was three he couldn't wear diapers anymore, and buy him Thomas the Train underpants. Breaking the Binkie habit was our painful struggle, that took months of tears and frustration. He needs a cuddle every once in a while, but is also perfectly happy being by himself. He calms down quickly, if I sing "Angels watching over me" to him. He uses words like amazing, and awesome, and cool a whole bunch. He hates being hot. He can spot a spider from three yards away. He calls himself a New York City Rat, and always tells us that New York is his place when he hears mention of it.
