When it Rains It Pours

So, we already had a stressful weekend planned with the move, and the primary program rehersal, and the halloween party, and justin's directing exercise due, and etc. etc.

Last night, I left the computer to make dinner, and when I got back it was off. I tried to turn it back on and NOTHING. NOTHING, NOTHING. Today we called HP, and had to give them all kinds of money, to find out that they don't know whats wrong, so we have to give them all kinds of money to send someone.

Its either a faulty power supply, the motherboard, or the power button. The supply guy told justin to have a friend look at it... the thing is all the people we know for sure are educated in the relm of computers are in utah, Jarrod, Kevin, Michael... all in Utah.

We set up my old computer that we had been using as a DVD player because that is the only thing it is good for anymore... and we are learning patiences. I am already mourning the loss of 9 months worth of pictures that I just hadn't backed up yet. Hopefully we can get it fixed, because of that, and also, we don't have 200 dollars to fix a motherboard, let alone 700 dollars for a new computer.

The biggest problem is I had done all kinds of work for the a slide show presentation for the primary program... and didn't burn it to dvd yet because we didn't have any empty dvds and then when we did justin wasn't home. So, instead of staying up until 2 packing tonight, I'll be up until 2 REDOING the slideshow.

Check back on Wednesday when I've had a day to recover from the relocation, and bask in my light-filled two bedroom apartment.

Yikes! I am so sorry! That's one of my biggest fears.

My external hard drive crashed on me the other day--all my music was on there. Luckily, I have most of it backed up, but it still sucks. I hope you can recover all your pictures. At least you have a lot of them on your blog.

If it's any of those 3 problems your pictures should still be there.

So excited for you to move into a bigger place. What a blessing!

The word verification letters below are "imped" Hopefully that' not Freudian or prophetic. I'll think good thoughts...

p.s. I bought Dar Williams new album. I think you should too. It might help you get through the movie with a modicum of sanity intact.

You poor things! We had a similar problem....HP as well. We had to get the hard drive recovered for about 150. It was a lot of money, but we needed the pictures...they are truly priceless. We took the computer to Best Buy to get the hard drive recovered, then got the computer fixed through HP under our warranty. Hopefully your hard drive isn't bad...if it is, it will be a whole lot more than 150.

I can't believe HP charged even if they couldn't figure out what was wrong. You should have at least called me first! One word of advice - don't get an HP guy to send someone out because they'll most likely charge an arm and a leg; at least try to take it to a shop yourself.
