In his own words

The other night Reuben fell off the side of our bed. He wasn't jumping, lest you think I still allow that, he was just too close to the edge and slipped off. He got a scrape on his back, but was mostly just stunned he was on the floor. He cried, but while I was comforting him I realized it wasn't about the pain, but about the past he was crying... he was saying "Oh, no. Now we have to go to the hospital. Let's get some staples. Oh, no!" Justin cleaned it and put a big bandaid on it while I let Reub lay on me and cry into my shoulder about the hospital and staples. Reuben calmed down, and the scrape is almost all healed (thank you, Neosporin.) Now, he describes it in his own words:

"It's broken now." That's my favorite part. Poor Reuben.

You better give him a bandaid too Brecken or he might cry some more.

I'm glad his back isn't really broken. Oh he's so cute. Seriously, give him a bandaid! :)

I LOVE that toddler perspective on the gravity of his wounds: "I hurt my back. It's broken now."

He's adorable.

Sad that he still remembers staples....
