I have been impressed with the work the mothers do to make fabulous birthday parties for Reuben's friends. Reuben always enjoys it, and I am amazed at how much extra work the mothers and fathers put into bringing everything to the park, and planning great activities, and having each child enjoy the party. I don't know if I can do that... I guess since Reuben's birthday is so close to the holidays we will probably just spend the next few years with family on Reuben's birthday.
I asked Reuben what he wanted to give to his friend, and he told me, "bean bags." Which isn't a surprise because Reub's favorite things are puzzles, trains, crayons, bean bags or animals. So, we made some bean bags. Reuben put handfuls of beans into the paper funnel, and we had a great time making them and wrapping the present. It wasn't the most glamorous gift, but I think it meant a lot for Reuben to be involved, and since it was something he loves to play with I'm pretty sure G will like to play with them to.
Thanks to the parents for giving us a great thing to do this morning while our Daddy was in New Jersey.

I am totally with you on the amazing mothers thing. Our birthday party for Peter was pretty much an excuse to make people play games with us, haha. Yes, he did get a cake to destroy and we DID sing...
So cute about the bean bags. You are such a great and creative Mom!
Bean bags are a terrific gift idea! I'm all about the simpler the better. -- And that goes for parties too.
My kids are standing here oohing and aahing over Reuben. We miss you guys.
G did love the bean bags and if you didn't notice, all the kids were fighting over them! They were great and I think it is even better that Reuben had a say in it! Thanks for coming!
