Poem in Your Pocket Day

Tomorrow is Poem in Your Pocket Day in New York, so I wanted you all to be prepared, and even if you aren't in New York I think this is a pretty fabulous idea. So tonight, or tomorrow morning get a poem, put it in your pocket, and share it with people tomorrow. For more information click here.

And to start you off here is a poem I wrote just so I could say I wrote something on PIYP Eve.

Behold a Son

Consider the hands of my little boy,
His short tiny fingers stained by the dirt,
Always seem full with a rock, stick, or toy,
Never too busy to stop for dessert.

Consider his heart, how fast it can beat,
Sweet steady pounding to keep him alive,
Constantly, healthy lub-dubs on repeat.
May his power to love always survive.

Consider his feet, his shoes on or off,
Where they will take him, how far they will go.
Will I have my fill before they takeoff?
Will all of his powers have time to grow?

My world's better-off with him in it.
Soon the whole world will reap benefit.

Wow, that's a pretty cool idea. It must be pretty cool to live in a place that does such neat events!

That's lovely Brecken :) Thanks for sharing it. I especially liked the third stanza.
