Homemade Bomb

Justin and Reuben were making me dinner, while I did some blog strolling. I was reading about a sale at a scrapbooking store when I heard an explosion come from the kitchen. I've never heard an explosion come from my kitchen, and since two of the people I love very most in the whole wide world where in said kitchen I stopped breathing for a second. I got to the hallway to find Justin holding Reuben looking him over. I thought for a second something heavy fell instead of something exploded, but no... Justin recounts the following:

"I was chopping onions and Reuben was standing in the kitchen--I heard the pop and thought it was the fork leaping out of the bacon pan--don't ask me why. I looked and saw the spray oil lidless and thought--oh crap--it's gonna blow! I wasn't even thinking and I suppose I was guided by the Spirit to just throw the can away from us. I am not even sure if it hit the floor, but it exploded near the doorway of the kitchen. I was still holding the chef's knife and picked up Reuben, slipping all over the oil slick that was spread around us on the entire floor. It was a brand new can of cooking spray. Well, I saw the knife in my hand and dropped it in the sink, because I was already in a precarious situation with Reuben as it was...in the aftermath I saw these white plastic chips and the only piece of cooking spray can we could find was the bottom that was blown out. I searched around to find the source of the shards scattered about, and it was our canned-goods rack, which, by some miracle, Reuben had been playing with and therefore, most of the cans were lopsided and sideways against the back of the rack. This allowed room for the cooking spray missile to blow through without too much obstruction, although I discovered three dented cans aside from the broken plastic that were caused by the explosion. Had the cans been stocked correctly as we had them before Reuben got to them, there would have been a potential ricochet that Reuben would have been in the path of. Mysterious ways I tell you!!! WARNING: Never leave pressurized cans on top of the stove for any amount of time--you never know when they could blow..."

Everyone is okay, thankfully.

Should I just add to the list of everyone saying, "I'm glad you are ok"

Which I am very glad. I just thought it was great that everyone said that. Oh and Justin I love your storytelling skills.

You could like write a movie or something. :D

Yay for everyone being okay (I thought "yay" would add a little variety to the comments). :)

I don't know if I have a new way to phrase the 'I'm glad' comment! Sorry! But it took my breath away a little as I was reading, so this entry was appropriately labeled 'Scary Things'.
Isn't it wonderful that Heavenly Father watches over us? You almost miss it, too, because everything comes off looking like lucky coincidences. But there's no such thing.

I'm so glad you're all safe.

PS. And now you have a cool story! Cool!
