j.i.n.g.l.e bells, j.i.n.g.l.e bells, j.i.n.g.l.e b.e.double.l.s

One of the Reasor Christmas traditions is to go caroling on Christmas Eve (after the practicing, before the nativity). Because it is in Minnesota we only go to places where we know we will be invited in, and within a 15 minute radius of our house (that might be an under exageration... numbers, remember.) In my attempt to keep traditions alive we are planning to go caroling this year.

The hymns are tried and true, but not the most interesting, to be honest, so I have been always on the look out for that perfect caroling selection or collection. In the past I have always waited too long to try to find a book, or bought one that looked fine, but turned out to be dumb. This year is different. This year I succeeded. I did some research online, read reviews, compaired prices, and decided on three collections. (I pretended I was buying a vacuum.) The Shaw-Parker Book of Christmas Carols, An A Cappella Christmas (arranged by Kirby Shaw), and The Christmas Caroling songbook (Hal Leonard).

They came today, and Reuben and I had so much fun playing/singing the new songs. Reuben loves to play the piano, and gets a kick out of dancing to it when I, or the demo, plays the piano. I want to find a handbell set, that we can afford, and give him one or two handbells that match the key so he can impress the people we go caroling to (and so we don't go flat), but I think Christmas Eve may be too close for me to pull off the handbell plan.

Christmas Eve maybe too close?! Time flies when you are trying to impress people!

Yay for caroling! I LOVE caroling and I totally want to go this year. I wish we could go caroling with you... then we could do a full quartet!

I have the Hal Leonard Christmas Caroling songbook, and yes it is good :)

I love caroling, but I can never convince anyone to go with me *sigh* so it doesn't usually happen :)

But in Church on Sunday, when we sang carols during sacrament meeting, it felt like Christmas for the first time this year - I love singing the carols :)

Good luck with your caroling endeavors! I'm sure everyone will be suitably impressed :)
